What are the Reserves?

The Army Reserves is the Reserve force of the United States Army. Similar to the National Guard, the Reserves drill one weekend a month and two months out of the year. However, there exist several differences between the Reserves and the National Guard.
The largest difference the Reserves hold is that they are a completely Federal force, with no state dictating the deployment and use of Reserve troops. Another major difference is that the Reserves hold no combat arms positions, compared to the National Guard which does. The Reserves is made up of only support and Combat Support Army positions.
